Here's the kidlet all dressed up for Halloween Trick or Treating - I got her dressed and went to put on her wings and she says, "No, mommy, you can't hurt my back!"
"What do you mean? It's not going to hurt." I replied, slightly puzzled
"You Can't Hurt my Back!" she says more adamantly - movin farher away from me!
I got it - she was thinking it would be some kind of permanent surgical process
"No, Sophie, It's like a jacket," I showed her the elastic loops, "See, it won' hurt!"
So she's runs over and puts on the wings. Then she wiggles her shoulders to make the wings move. Then she flaps her arms, vigorously, Then she jumps, lands and looks at me in disbelief.
"I can't fly."
Trying not to laugh, I tell her very casually, "We don't have pixie dust."
"Oh..." she says, remembering Tinkerbelle, "we need to get some!"
Here's a monologu that I hear on a regular basis,
"Mommy, Why's the leaves falling? So it can snow? The leaves are falling so it can snow. It gonna snow cuz here comes Santa Claus. I luffs da snow! Santa Claus bringing me presents. I luffs presents! It's so Wonderful!
